I/O Movement's first project was fostered by the Lab Cab Festival 2014 of Parkdale. The Architecture of Us began as a choreographic experiment, taking the standard creation space to a public setting. This allowed the dancers to experience and be influenced by the built world. Encountering busy, sacred and quiet buildings, the dancers and artistic director found the results to be overwhelming. Yet taking the inspired movement back to the studio to form and review these findings brought something unique. We were lucky to have Lois Schklar's sculptural wire work as our stunning set and shadowy inspiration.
The Architecture of Us [You + Me] is a study of the human reaction to the world we have created. It slowly evolved into a deeper look into homesickness and how the human body can truly miss a few walls and a roof.
Over 250 people within the community attended.
