Shell Power

Shell Power is a glimpse at a giant to-do list. It is a look at two women independently and collectively trying to achieve healing forces in their everyday lives.

MONOLOGUE #1

What goes inside? What fits in that space?

It’s a bigsmall thing –
The sound bounces around when it’s too empty
and the air gets sucked right out when it’s too full

It stays on its knees
And says it never learned how to stand
But its footprints are everywhere

(1) Remember the moment
(2) Describe what you see
(3) Give it a name

MONOLOGUE #2

A strange vibration, in this
Enough to take shape and forget to clean up after itself
A big mess that broke apart until all that trembling decency
Looked like something I’d seen before

But I never shook its hand

(4) Fold the palm
(5) Knead the flesh
(6) Don’t look it in the eye

MONOLOGUE #3

Something else

Hovering between the stasis and the aftershock and lingering even after I thought it’d grown tired of me

But it’s here
And not as a loveme//leaveme, yes//no

As a head to heart
I found how to dealdealdeal
By giving up the battle
A nice clean fight
With me for me by me

I am not a hollow,
I am a bigsmall thing wrapped in a shell

And inside there is room
for the sound to bounce around and then to land,
for the air to get sucked out and then flood back in

(7) Know your enemy
(8) Welcome it
(9) Ask nothing in return
